Richard Manu is set to be named Asante Kotoko's new assistant coach ahead of the commencement of the Normalisation Committee Special Competition this weekend, March 30 and 31.

The Porcupine Warriors wants to beef up their technical team with the German-based gaffer, footballghana.com can report.

The Reds are set to announce his appointment in the coming days after both parties reached an agreement and he is expected to be unveiled soon.

The 45-year-old who holds a UEFA License 'B' certificate in coaching replaces coach Akakpo Patron who has been reassigned to the club's youth side.

He is joining his former club as a coach from Ghana Premier League club Karela United FC where he served as an assistant coach to Johnson Smith.

He previously coached German third-tier side DJK Dillingen.

Manu had a two-year stint with Asante Kotoko from 2007-2009 and helped them to win the Ghana Premier League title during the 2007/08 season.
