Kasim, Ofori, Tekpetey watch from the bench as Düsseldorf beat Bremen 3-1 in Bundesliga opener

Ghanaian trio, Bernard Tekpetey, Kassim Adams and Kelvin Ofori watched from the substitute bench as their new club, Fortuna Düsseldorf beat Werder Bremen 3-1 in the German Bundesliga earlier today.

The two clubs locked horns in the opening weekend of the League season at the Weserstadion in hopes of picking up their first three points of the season.

Though Düsseldorf emerged as comfortable 3-1 winners at the end of the day, the Ghanaian trio recruited to the side this summer could not enjoy any minutes despite being named on the bench.

Two second-half goals from Kenan Karaman and Kaan Ayhan complemented a first-half strike from Rouwen Hennings to hand the visitors all three points. Johannes Eggestein pulled one back on the 47th minute but it was not enough to earn Werder Bremen anything out of the match.

After missing any action on the day, Bernard Tekpetey, Kassim Adams and Kelvin Ofori are likely to be given a run in the team next weekend when they take on Bayer Leverkusen.

The three players impressed in pre-season and will play key roles for their club in what should be a long season.
