Kevin De Bruyne would be happy to extend his contract at Manchester City with the Premier League leaders keen to give him a new deal.
The 26-year-old still has almost four years remaining on his current six-year deal, which he signed when he completed a £54 million switch from Wolfsburg in 2015.
However, sources have told ESPN FC that City are ready to offer him a new contract to secure his long-term future at the club.
De Bruyne says he is happy at the Etihad Stadium where he has become a key player for Pep Guardiola, who recently described him as "one of the best players I've ever seen in my life."
"There has not really been a conversation," De Bruyne was quoted as saying in the Daily Telegraph. "We both waited until the transfer window was over.
"They have spoken with [agent Patrick de Koster] in the summer and said give us time to make the transfers and we speak after the summer.
"That will soon happen, I think. I'm not thinking it has to happen fast. I have a four-year contract. Whether I'm four, five or six years under contract, that does not change much, but it's nice the club have so much confidence in me."
Kevin De Bruyne is in his third season at Manchester City.
De Bruyne is enjoying the extra responsibility that he has been given by Guardiola, with the midfielder taking the captain's armband for the first time in the recent Champions League win over Feyenoord.
"That shows that I'm on the right track and I'm one of the leaders of the team," he added.
"I know I'm one of the five on the players council [along with Vincent Kompany, Fernandinho, David Silva and Sergio Aguero].
"For me, it was also nice to be seen as one of the more adult in the group. That's fun. That does not often happen. I'm the youngest of the five. We shall see [about the captaincy]."
