Ghanaian midfielder, Kevin-Prince Boateng, has apologized to fans for flouting COVID-19 protocols, leading to his exclusion from his side, AC Monza.

He and several teammates of the Serie B club visited the Lugano casino. The act was deemed as a violation of COVID-19 protocols and as such, has been forced to self isolate.

“First we want to apologize for what has happened in these hours. We are immensely sorry not to be able to be part of the match, but we are convinced that our teammates will give their best as has always been done by every single Monza member," the former Barcelona man stated.

"It was a little girl and our hope is that she will be taken as such. We honestly didn't think we were doing anything that could damage the fans, the club, the coaching staff and our teammates."

"Unfortunately, each of us underestimated the implications, otherwise we would certainly have considered another way to spend a couple of hours of afternoon leisure. We will fight together as we always have! "

He has made 23 appearances for the club this season.
