With the situation of the Coronavirus (Covid-19) crisis not looking any different since the cancelation of the Ghanaian football season, DataBank Group Chief Executive Officer, Kojo Addae Mensah is calling for the prioritization of the restart of football rather than placing focus on teams going to Africa.

On June 30, 2020, when the Ghana Football Association (GFA) announced the cancelation of the 2019/2020 football season, they also confirmed that Kumasi Asante Kotoko and Ashanti Gold SC will represent the country in the next edition of the CAF Champions League and the CAF Confederations Cup competition.

Speaking to Happy FM in an interview today, Kojo Addae Mensah has stressed that the Africa campaign should not be of importance at this time. He insists that the focus must be on the return of the football next season.

“We haven’t found a way to play our local league and we are talking about Africa.

“Granted we have nominated Kotoko for Africa, we don’t even know how the aviation rules are going to be like, How training will resume, testing and others. This is a complicated matter. The most important thing is how to restart football in a safe manner”, the Data Bank Group CEO said.

The Ghana FA is expected to meet this week to begin discussions on going for Congress and planning for the next football season which will likely be synched with the European calendar.
