Databank Ghana Chief Executive Officer, Kojo Addae-Mensah beleives Ibrahim Tanko must replace Mariano Barreto as Asante Kotoko head coach.

The Porcupine Warriors have ended their 2020/21 trophyless.

The record Ghana Premier League champions lost the Premier League title race to Hearts of Oak.

Kotoko have also failed to defend their MTN FA Cup trophy losing 4-5 to Berekum Chelsea in their quarterfinal game.

However, Mariano Barreto despite signing a year and a half deal with the club prior to the start of the second half of the just-ended season has been tipped to leave the club.

According to Addae-Mensah, Ibrahim Tanko is the best option for the club.

"We have good coaches in the country," he said in an interview with Asempa FM.

"I really admire what Annor Walker has done with Great Olympics and for me, he is a very good coach and I have no doubt he can coach Asante Kotoko.

"Ibrahim Tanko is also available at the moment and with his experience at Black Stars, I think he is the best option for Asante Kotoko.

"There are other coaches around now but Tanko is the best among them for me and he will fit perfectly for the Asante Kotoko job," he added.

Nana Yaw Amponsah, who is the CEO of the club has confirmed Barreto's season will be reviewed and a decision will be taken after that.
