Kotoko Board Member debunks reports on buying Anane Sports Stadium

Asante Kotoko Executive Board member Joseph Yaw Adu has denied reports that the team is set to buy the Anane Sports Stadium.

The Board of the club has been tasked by Manhyia to construct their own stadium, academy, and other sporting facilities in the shortest possible time.

This led to reports that the Board is considering to purchase the Anane Boateng Stadium at Abrankese from Kessben Group of Companies.

But Yaw Adu said those reports are not an official communication from the board as they are yet to meet on the structures of the club.

"It’s not coming from the board so please don’t have that notion,” he told Y FM Kumasi.

"We are a new board, we have been given the mandate but we’ve not sat down to know the structures as of now.

"We have not taken a decision yet, Otumfour has mandated us to make sure Kotoko owns something and we will discuss it at the board meeting," he concluded.

The new Board of Directors is led by Dr. Kwame Kyei and he will be assisted by Jude Arthur, who served as a board member in 2013. Tema-based businessman and two-time board member Alhaji Lamine have also been brought back to be part of the new team.

Former sports journalist Evelyn Nsiah Asare, who is now Director of Sports at the Sunyani Technical University is also part of the board.

Other members include Joseph Yaw Adu, Laryea Kwamina Mensah, Kwadwo Boateng Genfi.
