Kotoko Captain Amos Frimpong confident in squad list for CAF Confederations Cup

Kumasi Asante Kotoko Captain Amos Frim has affirmed his confidence in the team presented for the CAF Confederations Cup next season.

Coach Steve Pollack submitted a 26 man list for the continental showpiece a fortnight ago. The list contained several new faces including Ghana under-17 goalkeeper Dan Lad Ibrahim.

The release of the squad was greeted by criticism from the fans and some pundits, with many predicting an early exit from the competition for the Reds.

However, Amos Frimpong who has tasted continental championship with the club in the past believes there is promise in the squad and was hopeful they will succeed in Africa.

“When the squad was released there were lots of criticisms from the fans, with a lot saying it’s a weak team but I believe in team work than big names,’ he told Happy FM.

“It is better to have a good team than to send big names and not make an impact so I urge our supporters to be confident in the team and give the support to the team,”

“I am confident in the team, and I know with the support of the fans the team will excel in Africa and we can get to our target.”

Meanwhile, Kumasi Asante Kotoko has been paired with Club Athletique De Aiglon of the Democratic Republic of Congo in the preliminary rounds of the competition, which will be played on the weekend of 9-11th February this year.

The Porcupine Warriors were in the finals of the maiden edition of the competition but were beaten by arch rivals Accra Hearts of Oak.
