Kotoko CEO Nana Yaw Amponsah reveals reasons for signing 'sluggish' Muniru Sulley

Chief Executive Officer of Asante Kotoko, Nana Yaw Amponsah has opened up on why the club signed Muniru Sulley.

The Ghana Premier League powerhouse signed the former CFR Cluj and Yeni Malatyaspor midfielder on a two-year contract.

However, the 28-year-old has been criticized for his sluggish style of play.

But according to Nana Yaw Amponsah, the club settled on signing Muniru after failing to sign Justice Blay from Medeama SC.

"Because we couldn't sign Justice Blay, we settled on signing Muniru Sulley whose resale value is around $500,000," he told Kumasi based Oyerepa FM.

"He has played in the Ghana League, Romania, Belarus, Portugal etc.

"I watched him against Manchester City and he was fantastic.

"When I spoke to him about the Kotoko project, he was convinced and he realized that it will be a good option for him to play for the club as well.

"Considering Muniru Sulley's matches I have watched, he is the best passer," he added.

Muniru, 28, is the younger brother of former Inter Milan and A.C. Milan player Sulley Muntari.
