Asante Kotoko CEO Nana Yaw Amponsah has revealed that the board allowed him to spend 1 million Ghana cedis on player recruitment in the summer.

During the summer, the club recruited the likes of Latif Anabila, Abalora and Muniru among others.

In an interview with Kumasi-based Oyerepa FM, Amponsah revealed the amount allowed and gave thanks to the board for allowing it.

"A budget of 1 million cedis was approved by the board for player recruitments," he stated.

"But if you look at the big clubs in Africa, the money given to the management was not enough because if you look at the financial power of Al Hilal, Esperance and Sundowns, Kotoko does not come close but we are grateful to the board."

Kotoko lost the first leg of their CAF Champions League round one game to Al-Hilal during the midweek.
