Head Coach of Kumasi Asante Kotoko, Steve Pollack says he is proud of the attitude, desire and passion of his players in their 1-1 draw with arch rivals Accra Hearts of Oak in their outstanding game played on Sunday.

The Porcupine Warriors returned to action for the first time since the horrific accident suffered last month enroute to Kumasi after a Ghana Premier League game against Inter Allies. A game they lost 1-0.

It was an emotional return by the side that lost their equipment officer, the late Obeng Asare with several player badly injured.

Coach Steve Pollack was among the severely injured but with the club’s medical team cleared the entire team with the exception of Ollenu Ashitey and Michael Akuffo fit.

Kotoko shared the spoils with Hearts in a controversial game but Coach Steve Pollack praised his side’s attitude after the game.

“Well if you look at the both halves, maybe, first half they had it a little bit and second half before they scored we had it under control. One break and they scored and after they scored and after they scored we put the pressure on again,” Pollack said after the game.

The highly intense game could not do away with some controversy as referee Dally Gagba awarding a controversial penalty, However, Coach Steve Pollack indicated he was more concerned by the performance of his players.

“If you look at the chances first half, they had two, we had two and in the second half they had one, we had a penalty. Is it a penalty? It doesn’t matter, the referee has given a penalty so I can’t say it wasn’t or it was. I just want to say I’m proud of my players, the attitude they showed today especially in the second half.” He added.

“I knew the second half was going to take time after what happened, to get into the game and have a goal. I’m proud of them, the attitude, desire and passion to come back and get a point I am very happy and also I want to thank the supporters. They came out in their hundreds.”
