Asante Kotoko SC players have undergone the last phase of the CAF prescribed Pre-Competition Medical Assessments (PCMA) at the Baba Yara Stadium in Kumasi.

The detailed examination exercise, which is a standard requirement adhered to by clubs, would see all players currently under contract with the club subjected to thorough checks and fitness tests ahead of the new season.

Like all previous exercises, the final phase which began on Saturday, December 9, is being conducted under the leadership and guidance of the club's medical chief, Dr. Michael Leat, and his team.

Focusing on the general medical history and examinations to detect the strengths and abnormalities in the muscles of players, the exercise is scheduled to be completed in the next couple of days.

The first phase, completed some two weeks ago saw the team conduct laboratory investigations into blood samples of the players.

The second part, also completed last week examined players' cardiovascular systems to detect any abnormalities in the functioning of their hearts.

Dr. Leat in a brief statement said, "Kotoko are committed to safeguarding the health of it's players and would not compromise on any aspect of this very important exercise."
