Kotoko up for President Cup match despite reports of a boycott

Contrary to reports that, Kotoko will not honour the July 2, 2017 President Cup game against sworn rivals Hearts of Oak, the Management has confirmed that, the Porcupine Warriors will face the Phobians at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium on the said date. 

A letter dated June 19, 2017 and signed by Administrative Manager, Rose Padmore Yeboah said: “Asante Kotoko appreciates our club being chosen to participates in the President’s Cup on 2nd July, 2017. Pending all details and final agreement between Ghalca and Asante Kotoko SC, the club avails itself to participate in the said match in honour of the President and the people of Ghana”.

Accra Representative and Premier League Board member, Thomas Boakye Agyeman in an interview with Asantekotokosc.com, also confirmed the club’s participation. Meanwhile, the club’s coach, Steven Polack, has in a radio interview in Kumasi debunked suggestions that, the Porcupines are afraid of Hearts of Oak. He told Kessben FM’s mid-morning sports show that, Kotoko would be ready for Hearts and that there was nothing to fear.
