Koulibaly nearing new Napoli deal

Published on: 30 August 2018

Napoli are close to agreeing a new contract with Kalidou Koulibaly, with the defender expected to stay in Campania until 2023.

While reports over the summer suggested a new deal had already been wrapped up, the club has never made the news official.

That may change in the near future, with CalcioNews24.com stating Koulibaly will sign a contract worth €3.5 million a season.

It’s believed the deal will extend his stay in Naples to 2023, as his current contract runs out in 2021.

More importantly, a €100m release clause is expected to be part of the contract. That will certainly be music to the ears of Napoli fans, as Koulibaly was the subject of transfer interest from several Premier League clubs this summer – most notably Chelsea.

Last season Koulibaly netted five goals in 35 Serie A appearances for Napoli.
