Kovac content with stalemate

Published on: 09 June 2019

Bayern Munich boss Niko Kovac remains convinced that his side will clinch the Bundesliga title next weekend even after the 0-0 draw at RB Leipzig.

Bayern hold a two-point lead heading into the final weekend after Borussia Dortmund secured a 3-2 victory over Fortuna Dusseldorf on Saturday.

Dortmund visit Borussia Monchengladbach on the last day of the season while Bayern entertain Kovac's former club, Eintracht Frankfurt, who were knocked out of the Europa League by Chelsea on Thursday.

"We'll play at home and we'll seal the title there," an upbeat Kovac said after the stalemate in Leipzig. "It will be a final for the championship title, the people in Munich haven't had that for years, even decades.

"So I am convinced our fans will create a great atmosphere, which will boost our passion and will to win."

Bayern have won the last six Bundesliga titles and are 3/10 to beat Frankfurt next weekend and 10/1 to win the match 3-0.

Kovac added: "We were clearly dominant [against Leipzig]. We were completely in control and didn't allow anything. We stifled Leipzig's strengths and created chances. Unfortunately we didn't reward ourselves, but we saved that for next week."
