Kurt Okraku angry over betting scandal in GPL; ready to punish perpetrators – Oduro Sarfo

Executive committee member (EXCO), Nana Oduro Sarfo has disclosed that Ghana Football Association (GFA) President Kurt Okraku is angry over the match-fixing allegation in the Premier League and is keen on seeing to it that all perpetrators are punished.

At the end of the 2020/2021 Ghana Premier League season, it has been alleged that several games were fixed with officials of clubs betting on games for monetary gains.

Particularly, the game between Ashanti Gold SC and Inter Allies FC that ended 7-0 for the Miners has been topical in the past week.

Speaking to Fox FM, Nana Oduro Sarfo says the football association is not happy. According to the Exco Member, President Kurt Okraku is angry and is ready to do all he can in his power to ensure the culprits are punished.

“I can tell you for a fact that the FA president is highly peeved about this scandal because it has the tendency to undermine all the good works of the current administration and he is prepared to go every length to bring the perpetrators of this disgraceful act to book irrespective of his relationship with the fellow,” Oduro Sarfo said.

The Ghana FA since the allegation on the game between Ashgold SC and Inter Allies FC, has handed the case to the Crimination Investigations Department of the Ghana Police Service.

A report has also been made to CAF and FIFA.
