CD Leganés striker Kwabena Owusu has been dropped to the bench ahead of Ghana’s final match in the CAF U-23 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) tournament currently ongoing in Egypt.

Nicknamed the Black Meteors, the team which has been placed in Group A has endured a difficult campaign in the tournament after failing to win either of their opening two matches.

First, the team drew 1-1 with Cameroon before going on to lose 3-2 to host nation Egypt.

Ahead of their final group game against Mali where they will be seeking their first 3 points, Ghana head coach Ibrahim Tanko has dropped his leading striker Kwabena Owusu to the bench.

According to checks, the decision was taken due to indiscipline behavior shown by the on-loan Córdoba FC striker in camp.

Owusu’s place in the Black Meteors lineup has be taken by Samuel Obeng Gyabaa who managed to get on the scoresheet in the side’s last match against Egypt.

Below is Ghana’s lineup for the Mali match:

1 Kwame Baah (G), 2 Kingsley Fobi, 3 Edward Sarpong, 4 Zakaria Fuseini, 5 Habib Mohammed, 6 Michael Agbekornu, 7Ruben Polley, 8 Emmanuel Lomotey, 9 Samuel Obeng Gyabaa, 10 Yaw Yeboah (c), 11 Evans Mensah.
