James Akwasi Appiah has revealed that he was approached by Asante Kotoko officials to replaced Maxwell Konadu but rejected the offer.
Johnson Smith and Abdul Gazale worked as the interim coaches of the club following the sacking of the former Black Stars deputy coach in December 2020.
However, ahead of the second half of the season, the Porcupine Warriors have appointed Portuguese manager, Mariano Barreto as their new head coach on a one and half year deal.
According to Appiah, who has been jobless since November 2020 in an interview revealed that he was approached by the CEO of the club, Nana Yaw Amponsah to take over the club but declined the offer.
“It’s true," he told GhanaCrusader.
"I had a conversation with Nana Yaw Amponsah and some Board members but I declined because I have decided to take rest for some time because of the pressure that comes with the national team job,” he disclosed.
