Kwesi Appiah: Out of contract Black Stars coach has been paid for six months

Head coach for the Black Stars of Ghana, James Kwesi Appiah has not been paid for the past six months, footballghana.com can report.

The indigenous tactician has been in charge of the male senior national team since 2017 when he returned to that position for a second time.

He guided the Stars to the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) tournament which was hosted in Egypt between June and July. The team disappointingly only managed to get to the Round of 16 stage where they were knocked out by Tunisia.

Having returned to Ghana after the tournament, coach Kwesi Appiah has shockingly not been paid at the end of any of the last 6 months.

At a meet the press series organized by the Sports Minister Hon. Isaac Asiamah, he confessed that the sector has no money in their account. This, possibly the reason why the gaffer has not received his salary for that long period.

Meanwhile, Coach Kwesi Appiah’s contract with the Black Stars has now expired. It is unclear whether the Ghana Football Association (GFA) and the Sports Ministry will extend his stay or not.
