La Liga Clubs on Red Alert With Arsenal Contract Rebel Reportedly Set to Return to Spain

Published on: 28 February 2017

Alexis Sanchez is ready to quit the Premier League and head back to La Liga after becoming frustrated at Arsenal's lack of progress on the field, according to the Daily Star.

The red top exclusively claims that the Arsenal star is all-but-certain to call time on his career at the Emirates, and Spanish top tier sides Sevilla and Atletico Madrid are planning to swoop for the striker in the close season.

Sanchez's future in North London has been speculated about for the majority of the 2016/17 campaign, with the Chile international dragging his heels over signing a new deal with Arsenal.

Now, after seeing the club fall out of the Premier League title race and extremely likely to crash out of the Champions League after being thumped 5-1 by Bayern Munich, Sanchez's mind is said to be made up about ending his three-year association with Arsene Wenger's side.

Sanchez has publicly shown his frustration over Arsenal's faltering form in recent weeks, with the 20-goal ace throwing strops in Premier League clashes with Bournemouth and Swansea City over the past couple of months.

The Star believes that Sanchez is a big admirer of the work compatriot Jorge Sampaoli has undertaken at Sevilla - Los Rojiblancos currently sit just three points off top spot in Spain's top flight - and could look to join up with the reigning Europa League champions.

@Alexis_Sanchez mate if I was you I would leave Arsenal! They ain't winning anything for a long time so what's the point?? #TimeForChange

Atletico, too, are thought to be in the running for the 28-year-old and may look to replace Antoine Griezmann with Sanchez if the France international goes through with a possible move to Manchester United in the summer.

However, the duo may have obstacles to overcome if they are to lure Sanchez back to the Iberian peninsula. Atletico are currently embroiled in a court battle to reduce their transfer window ban to one season - the club having being found guilty of breaching rules over signing under-18 players - while Sevilla may not have the finances to prise Sanchez away from Arsenal.

The forward's current contract doesn't run out until July 2018 and, despite his apparent refusal to sign a new deal, Arsenal's hierarchy will definitely be holding out for a significant fee from any would-be suitors for the ex-Barcelona and Udinese man's signature.

Paris Saint-Germain, Juventus and league rivals Manchester City have also been linked with possible moves for Sanchez, while clubs in the Chinese Super League are alleged to have been monitoring his situation in England's top flight as well.
