Lack of quality in the Ghana League is the reason for no local player call-ups to the Black Stars - Maxwell Konadu

Deputy Coach of the Black Stars, Maxwell Konadu says lack of quality players in the Ghana league is the reason why the team's technical handlers do not often invite local players into the national team unlike the South African national team.

The former Asante Kotoko trainer believes the player exodus in the local league is the reason why they are often not given call-ups into the Black Stars.

In a post match interview after the Black stars pulsating one all drawn game against the Bafana-Bafana, Maxwell said,"You call a player to the national team today, tomorrow he's a foreign player and due to this, we don't get players with the much needed quality we required in the local league because of player exodus."

"Unlike the South African league, where you can offer the players good money and great pitches, therefore if you can do the right things, you have great players who can take the national team to the highest level."

"However, we in Ghana depend more on the foreign based players because when you invite a player from the local league today, tomorrow he's gone. I think some rule and regulation needs to be put down to at least slow such things down. Some even go abroad at the age of 14-15 years, which i think is not good for our local league."

The Black Stars continued their poor run in games as they play yet another drew against the Bafana-Bafana yesterday at the Moses Madhiba Stadium in Durban, South Africa. Mubarak Wakaso put the Black stars ahead in the 38th minutes before Ayanda Patosi equalized for the Bafana-Bafana in the 52nd minute.
