It’s last chance for Medeama
Prince Owusu — Medeama coach

The coach of Medeama Sporting Club is confident his side would turn things around tomorrow as they come face to face with destiny in attempt to salvage their CAF Confederation Cup group campaign with a must-win encounter against Tanzanian side, Young Africans.

After a disappointing start to their group campaign in which the Tarkwa-based side have picked just a point out of a maximum six, they desperately need a win to revive their continental dreams.

And their task this weekend could not have been more challenging than an away trip to Dar es Salaam where nothing than a win could give them the required lifeline, while a loss or even a draw could effectively end any hope of making it past this stage of the competition.

Coach Prince Yaw Owusu admits his side will face a tough game against the Tanzanians, as playing away has always been a tough task. Nonetheless, he maintains he has a deep insight about their opponents from a previous encounter when he was assistant coach of Sudanese side, Al Khartoum FC, and believes that will help him plan a strategy to deliver the desired result.

The Medeama coach allayed the fears of Ghanaians that there was no cause for alarm and urged the club’s faithful to have confidence in the team despite the tough task ahead.

“Personally I played against them when I was with Khartoum FC as an assistant coach, so I know them very well. I promise Ghanaians that we will do everything possible to pick all three points. I like the response I am getting from the players. They are determined to make a name for themselves and that is positive,” he told The Mirror ahead of the team’s departure last Wednesday.

It has not been an easy ride for Ghana’s sole survivor in continental competition who lie in third position in group A after losing 1-3 to T.P. Mazembe in Lubumbashi and drawing goalless with Algerian side M.O. Bejaia at Essipon.

On the other hand, bottom-placed Young Africans are without a point after losing 1-0 each against Mazembe and Bejaia.
