Latif Blessing poised to play against Berekum Chelsea despite injury scare

Liberty Professionals mercurial midfielder, Latif Attah Blessing says he might be ready to feature in their week 23 encounter against Berekum Chelsea in the Ghana Premier League. The silky attacker registered his name on the score sheet with a tenacious effort, but had to be substituted midway through the second half after he was hacked from the back by two defenders of Okwahu United in their MTN FA Cup semifinal loss at the Baba Yara stadium over the weekend. And in an interview with Reuben Obodai of Happy FM sports, Latif Blessing disclosed the extent of the injury and expressed worry in the manner they were knocked out of the competition especially after his beautiful goal. “I was feeling severe pain in the leg and couldn’t walk on it, but after applying ice and constant massaging by the masseurs, I’m getting back to my usual self. However, on the weekend’s match against Berekum Chelsea, I cannot say I will or can play for now unless on Friday but there is possibility I might feature.” “One of the two players that tried to jostle me off the ball kicked my Achilles, and I felt this sharp pain in my knee and therefore I had to be substituted. I’m still hurting from the defeat because I thought we played better and deserved to advance to the final but in football such things happen. The only good memory I have about the game is the goal I scored, which I think it’s a testament of the current form of because not many striker in the league could have scored that goal,” he fumed. Latif Blessing is currently the joint top scorer in the Ghana Premier League with 13 goals alongside Aduana stars striker Yahaya Mohammed and will be hoping to extend his tally with more goals agiant Berekum Chelsea on Sunday.
