Leaked Contract Details Outline Possibly the World's Most Specific Medical Clause

Published on: 05 December 2016

Medical exemption certificates are something of a hot-button topic in sport right now, but documents leaked to a group of leading newspapers has shown that at least one club has gone, well, maybe a little bit far.

Le Soirreport that when former Manchester City defenderMatija Nastasić signed for Schalke in 2015, he had a very specific clause put into his contract - stipulating that he can only wear adidas boots... unless he can prove that the company's boots are impossible for him to bear for medical reasons.

Now, adidas make some of the best football boots out there, so it's probably quite tricky to get a doctor to sign off on something like this.

What's the excuse, do the boots need to be very specifically hypoallergenic? Does he have some kind of compulsion that means he can only feel comfortable wearing boots made out of virgin kangaroo scrotum? Is there, maybe, a third possible reason?

You'd have to assume so, because a quick glance at recent pictures shows that Nastasic has been wearing... Nike boots. Goodness.
