Reports have emerged that Italian Serie A side US Lecce will turn to Artur Ionita and two other midfielders if their quest to sign Afriyie Acquah does not go through.

Lecce is leading the race to sign the Ghanaian defensive midfielder from Yeni Malatyaspor but is yet to complete negotiations. It is understood that a verbal agreement has been reached between the two clubs, pending the transfer fee of the former Torino man.

While talks continue between the parties involved, information picked up by footballghana.com has revealed that Lecce has identified three other players that they will turn to if Afriyie Acquah’s transfer does not go through.

The midfielders include Artur Ionita of Cagliari, Mehdi Bourabia and Antonin Barak of Sassuolo and Udinese respectively.

US Lecce has however reportedly increased their offer for Afriyie Acquah in a bid to fasten negotiations to secure his services from Yeni Malatyaspor before the January transfer window closes.
