Leeds boss Monk says Leeds have built foundation for Prem

Leeds boss Gary Monk is convinced that his side is prepared to play in Premier League in the coming years.

The Whites spent most of the current season in the top six, but following a string of bad results, they are set to miss out on playoff spots this season.

However, Monk is confident that a lot of foundations were put in place at Elland Road this season.

"If we are honest, there are so many positives this season with how far the group has come and re-connecting with the supporters, but I think the majority of the group haven't quite handled this situation, I think fighting for a place in the Premier League has come a little bit too soon," Monk told club's official website.

"We will take lessons from this, but with everything that has been so positive, it is something to build on and hopefully we can get this club in a position to fight for it again, with this experience behind them.

"A lot of foundations have been put in place this year, it has been great to see Elland Road packed out throughout and to see the improvement of the players."
