Leicester City Players Set To Receive Huge Bonus for Reaching Champions League Knockout Stage

Leicester City's stars will receive a welcome £100k bonus, after they gained entry into the Champions League knockout stages, according toreports.

The Foxes will receive approximately€5.5m from UEFA for qualifying for the last 16, which is in addition to the€6.5m they have already made from attaining 13 points in Group G.

The players will receive around a quarter of the totalearnings (€3m), leaving each of the 24 registered players with a tasty £100k pay-day.

If Leicester can go one better and qualify for the quarter-finals, the pool will increase and so will the bonus to players.

Italian boss Claudio Ranieri also looks set to receive a bonus for reaching the knockout stages, but he insists that the money isn't a motivation and their goal is to achieve glory in the competition.

Both Manchester City and Arsenal trail. Come on let's not leave it all to Leicester.

The Daily Mailquote Ranieri as saying:"It's unbelievable. Top of the group, I'm very happy, very proud for my players, very happy for the chairman, for the fans, for everybody. Another journey to the knockout.

"Our job is done. I don't know which team we play, it will be a fantastic team. Now our mind must go on the Premier League because I want to push my players to think about the Premier League.

"In the Premier League we are very close to the relegation [zone] and we must play at the same level as the Champions League because when we want to do something, we achieve something. We must concentrate on the Premier League now."

The Champions League has come as a welcome distraction for the Foxes, who have so far struggled in defending their Premier League crown.

Having qualified top of their group Ranieri's men have the theoretical luxury of avoiding some of Europe's perennial big hitters, such as Barcelona and Atletico Madrid.
