According to ESPN Deportes, Chivas have signed 22 year old attacking midfielder, Christian Pinzon for their reserve team Tapatio. Christian, who was born in California, wasn't getting enough playing time for MLS's Chicago Fire and decided to test new waters and try out for Chiva's reserve team. It didn't take long for the club to see his talented qualities and decided to sign him.

Chivas has a tradition to only allow players that are born in Mexico to form part of the club and play for the team. This tradition is dated back to the 1940's. Pinzon may have found a loophole, as his mother was born in Mexico; thus making him eligible as a Mexican American. This would allow the young attacking midfielder be accepted by the club and most important, its fans.
