A report in L'Equipe on Saturday claimed that the Qatar-owned club was giving Lionel Messi a "huge" salary of 110 million euros over the next three seasons, which Paris Saint-sports Germain's director Leonardo furiously rejected as "far far from truth."

On the day of Messi's first home encounter at the Parc des Princes since his spectacular transfer from Barcelona, Leonardo vehemently denied the validity of the French sports daily's front-page bombshell.

"We didn't like it, it's very far from the reality in terms of the length and the figures," said Leonardo.

"There are confidentiality clauses, but I can tell you it's not the truth."

"The length of the contract is two years and not three," stated Leonardo.

Messi, the six-time Ballon d'Or winner, has only played two games for his new team, both away matches, after being received like royalty in August.
