Ahead of their clash with Manchester United, Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has suggested that Wayne Rooney has notlost his quality, despite admitting that he is in no position to rate their rival players.

United coach Jose Mourinho takes his side to Anfield on Monday night ahead of an epic clash between two of the Premier League's biggest teams, and Reds boss Jurgen Klopp understands that he can't rate his club's rival players, however the German coach has taken it upon himself to assure fans that Rooney is still the player he was, despite his poor form.

Speaking in apress conferenceahead of the game, Klopp said: "Rooney is a goalscorer and a threat. A situation like this can happen in a long career. From my side he's a world class player.I am manager at Liverpool FC so I know it is not allowed to like United players!

"But he is 30-years-old and has a very long, more than decent career in the Premier League and the longer you are part of something the more the people know about you and the more the people think they can say about you.

"Does anybody think that Jose Mourinho is blind from one second to the other and says 'OK, he is not good enough anymore, but he will still play'.

"They all know about his quality and they all know about his value for each team he plays in".

Klopp heads into this fixture having just picked up the Manager of the Month for September, after gaining nine points from three games, beating the likes of Hull City, Chelsea and reigning Premier League champions Leicester City.
