Liverpool centre-back Joel Matip is expected to be fit for the Reds' Premier League match against West Ham on Sunday, according to journalist Paul Joyce.

Matip missed Liverpool's 4-3 defeat at Bournemouth on Sunday with an ankle injuryand was also absent from their EFL Cup win over Leeds. Jurgen Klopp's side looked relatively solid in the first-half of their clash against the Cherries, butthe side capitulated in the second periodand conceded four goals.

Thankfully for Liverpool fans, Matip looks set to return at the weekend, with Joyce confirming the former Schalke defender is back in training and expected to be fit.

Matip has impressed for Liverpool so far this season, despite his side producing relatively uneasy defensive performances. The Anfield club have conceded 18 Premier League goals, the most out of the current top six teams in the competition.

Lucas filled in at centre-back alongside Dejan Lovrenin Matip's absence, with Liverpool looking sound at the back in the first-half. Bournemouth came out after the break looking invigorated, however, with the introduction of Ryan Fraser by Eddie Howeflipping the game on its head.

Liverpool have kept just three clean sheets so far in the league, but have impressed with their attacking prowess. The likes of Philippe Coutinho,Roberto Firmino and Sadio Mane have scored and assisted regularly for the Merseyside club, and manager Klopp will be hoping the latter two can help reignite Liverpool's title challenge at the weekend having won one of their past three league games.
