Liverpool Have No Intention of Letting Danny Ings Leave Ahead of Transfer Deadline

Liverpool reportedly have no intention of letting Danny Ings leave the club before Wednesday night's fast approaching transfer deadline, with the Reds keen to resist any late interest in the former Burnley forward.

According to the Liverpool Echo, Jurgen Klopp wants Ings to be part of his squad this season and the Anfield club has recently rejected a loan approach from Sunderland.

The 24-year-old, whose debut Liverpool season was wrecked by injury, faces tough competition with Daniel Sturridge, Roberto Firmino and Divock Origi all ahead of him battling for a limited number of places in the team.

Ings hasn't yet featured this season, but it is said that is part of Klopp's plan to ease him in gently following so many months on the sidelines - he was supposed to appear in the EFL Cup last week until an injury elsewhere forced the manager to change his plans.

It was in the very first training session led by Klopp that Ings suffered his devastating injury.

Prior to that, the Hampshire-born star had been in good form in the final weeks of Brendan Rodgers' reign after an initial slow start. He has played once for Klopp so far, making it onto the field as a substitute on the final day of last season.

Despite that comeback in May, Klopp has played down any significance to his limited use of the player since.

"We're counting on Ingsy. He is a fantastic boy, Klopp saidrecently. "He was injured since October last year and he needed time. Now he's getting better and better.

"He know himself that in the first two or three weeks of pre-season even though he scored in the games it was too intense for him. We had to rest him a few times."
