Dirk Kuyt has declared former Liverpool teamate Steven Gerrard the best player he played with.
Kuyt played some greats of the during his career, but says Gerrard stands alone.
"Steven Gerrard is, despite all the other stars such as Luis Suarez, Fernando Torres, Javier Mascherano, Arjen Robben and Ruud van Nistelrooy, is a hero in everything," he told Voetbal International.
"He controlled everything, he had speed, could score and did not hesitate to kick someone upside down and take the ball with him so that it was not a foul, that's the best player I've ever played with."
Kuyt says he is in regular contact with Gerrard and hopes that the former midfielder will be present during his possible farewell match.
"It is not that we call each other every day, but we see each other a few times a year, and I hope he will be there when my farewell match arrives."
