Liverpool Join Host of Premier League Sides Scouting Portuguese Talent for January Transfer Window

Liverpool have joined a whole host of Premier League sides who are currently scouting players fromPortuguese giants FC Porto and Benfica ahead of the January transfer window.


The two European heavyweights met each other in the Primeira Liga for the first time this season at theEstadio do Dragao, and according to Portuguese news outletDesporto,Jurgen Klopp's Merseyside scouts were joined by representatives fromManchester City, Manchester United, Arsenal, Chelsea, Southampton, West Ham, Swansea and Middlesbrough.

However, it wasn't just footballing scouts from the top division of English football that were in attendance on Sunday evening, as some of Europe's biggest sides also made themselves known, with the likes ofJuventus, Inter Milan, Borussia Dortmund and Atletico Madrid also keeping an eye on a whole host of young talent.


Despite only playing out a dull 1-1 draw, there were some faces on show that several clubs would be interested in beginning negotiations with in advance of the January transfer window, especially Klopp's Reds, who will be keen to keep up their early title push.

The most notable name on show was 19-year-oldDiogo Jota, who so far this season has two assists and four goals in 11 appearances to his name, and added another strike after scoring the opening goal in the weekend clash, despite it being cancelled out in the second half.


Although not letting on as towhom they were keeping a close eye on, it is clear that Liverpool are looking for more options to bolster their squad after Christmas.
