Liverpool must get back to Plan A - Neville

Liverpool must go back to what made them successful during the first half of the season, according to Sky Sports pundit Gary Neville.

The Reds have fallen back into shaky ground, as a top-four finish is no longer guaranteed. Their recent undoing has been their poor form at home.

In their last three matches at Anfield, Jurgen Klopp's men have drawn with Bournemouth and Southampton, and lost to Crystal Palace – all teams that are below them on the table.

The former Manchester United great believes Liverpool should not create a new plan to break down deep lying visitors, but instead, focus upon getting the opposition defence shifted through more inventive and audacious runs - a strategy that had them sitting 2nd halfway through the season.

"Over the last two or three months - maybe longer than that - teams that sit back against Liverpool make it very difficult for them," Neville explained on Monday Night Football.

"Their Achilles' heel is they can't beat the lesser teams at home. Teams that come out against them and are expansive, they're ok because they can play the combinations and they're quick on the break.

"Clear the space, open up the channels - they've stopped doing it. They're being far too safe,"

"They've got to start making those runs again because when they don't they become static, they become safe, they become predictable and to me that's the problem at the moment.

"They're isolating the full-backs far too often in the game and taking the safe option."
