Liverpool are now free to sign Barcelona defender Aleix Vidal after club lowers their asking price.

According toSpanish newspaperSportthis week, the Catalan club are ready to accept a smaller bid in order to part ways with the player.

Liverpool had been linked with the full back towards the end of last season but had cooledtheirinterest after Barca bosses slapped a £45m price tag on him as theydidn'twant to sell.

However, reports have recently emerged that Vidal's days 'are numbered'and 'both sides agree it is best to leave in the winter transfer window'.

Barcelona also have come to terms with their inability toreceivetheir previous asking price and despite investing heavily, are willing to take a loss after significantly lowering their monetary expectations.

The report states that"Barca invested €18m plus bonuses in Vidal, and will only accept bids for a minimum value of €13m".

Vidal was signed from Sevilla in July 2015 where he played predominantly as a left or right winger. Nevertheless he was converted to a right-back at Barcelona in order to be Dani Alves' long-term replacement.

Despite registering three goals and as many assist in 16 games, Vidal has only made two appearances so far this season.

Now, Liverpool may put the player back on their wanted list as he's now cheap and affordable and could go in with a bid in January.

Jurgen Klopp has had numerous problems at full back with the unreliability of Alberto Moreno, meaning James Milner has been playing at left-back.
