Liverpool are set tomerge their first team and youth academy training facilities in an endeavourwhich could see the club leave Melwood and move to Kirby.
That is according to theExpress, who are reporting that while things are in their early stages, plans have already been drawn up to join the two sites.
Melwood is six miles away from the youth academy in Kirby, and even though Jurgen Klopp shares a strong relationship with academy directorAlex Inglethorpe, the distance and separation is an obvious issue.
It isn't possible to renovate Melwood as space doesn't allow further accommodation, but Kirby is big enough and looks the best option. Other possibilities are being considered, however.
Klopp is said to believe that being under one roof will benefit the club immensely. At present, he doesn't get to see the youngsters train himself, and that could be a hindrance to their progress.
Trent Alexander-Arnold and Ovie Ejaria, both 18, made full debuts in the ELF Cup match against Tottenham Hotspur on Wednesday. Liverpool won 2-1.
These two players are now training with the first team, but the rest of Liverpool's youth are not exposed to the senior coaching staff. And it is for this very reason that said decision has been taken.
The club bought Melwood fromthe governors of St Francis Xavier College66 years years ago, and upgraded the facilities in 2001 while Gerard Houllier was in charge.
On the football side of things, the Reds are doing very well this season, and have progressed to the quarter finals of the EFL Cup. They also sit third in the Premier League table, tied on points with leaders Manchester City and second-placed Arsenal.
