Liverpool to Table Bid for Germany Defender Jonas Hector

Liverpool will make an offer to FC Koln for their German defender Jonas Hector within the next 24 hours, according to journalist Emanuele Giulianelli's exclusive on Tribal Football.

The Merseyside club have been in the market for another left-back after Alberto Moreno's poor season and Brad Smith's departure to Bournemouth.

Jurgen Klopp's primary target to strengthen the left-side of Liverpool's defence was Leicester City's Ben Chilwell, but the German's hopes of signing the 19-year-old were dashed after he signed a new five-year contract at the Premier League champions.

After failing to sign Chilwell, Liverpool have now turned their attention to Hector and have sent his club Koln an enquiry.

The Bundesliga outfit responded with a £22.5m demand for the left-back, according to Giulianelli and Tribal Football.

Liverpool are prepared to meet Koln's asking price with Hector very keen on joining the Reds and working under Klopp.

Should the 2016 Europa League finalists capture Hector, he will be their seventh signing of the summer, adding to the club's heavy transfer activity in the current window.

Klopp has already spent big on recent signing Georginio Wijnaldum after he signed from Newcastle for £25m, while Sadio Mane was also recruited for £34m from Southampton in June.

And now Hector could be the next big money arrival at Anfield.

Joel Matip, Ragnar Klavan, Alex Manninger and Loris Karius, who is expected to be out of action for up to two months after injuring himself in a friendly against Chelsea, are the club's other signings.
