Liverpool Youngster Set for Spell on Sidelines After Sustaining Ankle Ligament Damage

Liverpool midfielder Cameron Brannagan is facing up to a month out injured after sustaining ankle ligament damage in training.

According to the Liverpool Echo, the 20-year-old caught the ground whilst taking a shot at the club's Melwood training complex.

Scans have since revealed the youngster has a grade two sprain which is likely to keep him out of action for around three to four weeks.

The injury comes at an awkward to time for Brannagan, who was understood to be loan-listed ahead of the impending January transfer window. It was thought that Bolton Wandererswere one potentialsuitor, with numerous other League One sides reportedly keen.

Due to the injury, Brannagan will now stay with the Reds for the next few weeks while he undergoes treatment, and it is thought that the club will make a decision on him towards the end of the window.

The Salford-born lad joined Liverpool at the age of five, and has been a regular in the U21 setup since 2013.Hewent onto makenine first teamappearances in the 2015/16 season, but has yet to appear under Jurgen Klopp this term, sparkling instead for the U23 side.

Although Liverpool were keen to loan him out in January, it is understoodtheir intention is to keep hold of the young starlet. Only last summerthe club rejected an approach to buy from Wigan Athletic, indicating they hold his talent in high regard and aren't prepared sell him.
