Loftus-Cheek beats Baba Rahman to Chelsea Young Player of the Year award

Black Stars defender, Baba Rahman has missed out on the Chelsea Young Player of the Year accolade which was won by 20-year-old English youngster Ruben Loftus-Cheek.

The 21-year-old fended-off competition from the Ghanaian international who has enjoyed playing time at the Club especially in the second round of the season as well as Brazilian youngster Kennedy.

Baba was able to make 14 appearances for the blues, 10 of which he started coming on a substitute in the other three.

Meanwhile, Willian was named both the Chelsea Player of the Year and Players’ Player of the Year at the Annual Awards at Stamford Bridge on Friday night.

The Brazilian is the third to win both accolades in the same year, following on from Eden Hazard last season and Juan Mata in 2013.

Eden Hazard’s stunning strike against Tottenham earlier this month was picked by supporters as the best goal scored by a Chelsea player this season.

Eighteen-year-old Fikayo Tomori won the Academy Player of the Year, the award presented by Paulo Ferreira.
