Real Madrid midfielder Luka Modric has agreed a new four-year contract that will secure his long-term future at the Bernabeu, tying the Croatian international to Los Blancos until June 2020.
Modric first arrived at Real from Tottenham in 2012 and the new deal will now see the player extend his stay and remain with the club until just shy of his 35th birthday.
By that time, Modric will have been wearing the iconic all-white of Real for as many as eight seasons - he has already won two Champions League titles during his time in Spain.
The former Dinamo Zagreb star, a veteran of Croatia's campaigns at two World Cups and three European Championships since 2006, will face the media in Madrid on Wednesday afternoon. It is there he is expected to formally put pen to paper.
Unfortunately, Modric will not be able to celebrate his extension with a good display against Legia Warsaw in the Champions League on Tuesday evening. The 31-year-old is currently sidelined with a knee injury suffered earlier this month and will watch on alongside the equally unavailable Casemiro and Sergio Ramos.
