Ghanaian international Majeed Ashimeru featured for his Red Bull Salzburg side on Wednesday night when they lost 4-3 to Liverpool at Anfield on matchday 2 of the Uefa Champions League.

The Austria side visited the English Premier League side in hopes of continuing their good start to the top-tier inter-club European competition.

At the end of an entertaining encounter, it was the defending champions who emerged as winners in front of a packed stadium dominated by their supporters.

Liverpool took control of the match and scored 3 in the first half courtesy strikes from Sadio Mane, Andrew Robertson, and Mohammed Salah.

Red Bull did not back down and stunned their opponent at their own back yard by scoring 3 of their own to restore parity. Hwang Hee-chan, Takumi Minamino, and Erling Braut Haaland got on the scoresheet to make the scoreline 3-3.

That resilience was however not enough as Mohammed Salah’s second-half equalizer earned all 3 points for the Reds.

Majeed Ashimeru who was named on the substitute bench of Red Bull Salzburg was introduced on the 88th minute in place of Zlatko Januzovic.

There was little he could do and unfortunately suffered the defeat with his side at the end of the 90 minutes.
