Celtics full-back Jeremie Frimpong has revealed that she has always had support from her mum and making her proud means everything to him.

The Dutch defender who is of Ghanaian descent had the backing from family at a young age when he decided to pursue football. His mom in particular has been in the midst ensuring he gets to where he is today.

Speaking to the Daily Mail, Jeremie Frimpong says to be able to put a smile on the face of her mum means a lot to him.

“There is strength in my family. My mum did well. She knew I always wanted to be a footballer and it puts a smile on her face when she sees me now, but it puts a smile on mine, too.

“You are making your mum happy, that’s everything. She comes and visits me but she doesn’t go to the games. She doesn’t understand football. She just stays in my house. She says Glasgow is too cold”, Jeremie Frimpong said.

Having moved from Manchester City to Celtics last season, the teenager has gradually established himself as an important asset for the Scottish giants.
