The Frenchman seemed to be on his way out of the club over the summer but rejected a move toStoke City.

He now looks ready to depart however, and Ligue 1 outfit Lille are reportedly interested in signing the 26-year-old.

Sakho had angered bossJurgen Klopp with hisreaction on social mediato being left out of the squad. He embarked on a late night snapchat rant about the German, and since then, has been a permanent fixture in the Liverpool under-23s.

He now understands that the only way to resurrect his career is to leave the club when the January transfer window opens.

Lille look to be the most likely suitors for Sakho, and a return to his previous stomping ground Ligue 1 could be the move that sparks a turnaround in hisfootballing fortunes.

But, after making the switch from Paris Saint-Germain to Liverpool in 2013, the 26-year-old does not come with a small wage packet.

He cost Liverpool £18m and is currently on £100,000-a-week, which could prove a major obstacle for Lille in their bid to secure his signature.

Sakho's Liverpool misfortunes began over the summer when, after a number of niggling injuries, he was sent home from the Reds' tour of the US during pre-season.

Jurgen Klopp described the reasons for such actions as disciplinary - rather than injury -related. The German has not called upon Sakho since the incident, and the last time he featured for the first team was in April against Everton.
