Representatives of Liverpool defender, Mamadou Sakho, have said that the Frenchman's departure from Anfield is "inevitable" following the drug test mishap that occurred back in April.

Sakho had initially tested positive for a banned substance following a drugs test he completed after Liverpool's Europa league match against Manchester United in March earlier this year.

However, after being handed a 30-day ban from football for taking what was understood to be a fat-burner, the case was dismissed by UEFA in Julyafter it was discovered that the drug that Sakho had taken was not listed as a banned substance.

Despite having the chance to make a fresh start at a new club, the defender chose to reject a move away from Liverpool in the summerand remain on Merseyside, with the hope that he could become a permanent feature of Jurgen Klopp's team once again.

Unfortunately forSakho, hehas found himself on the periphery of the team all season and following months of speculation, the centre-back appears set to leave the club in the January transfer window which opens in three weeks time.

And although the player's representatives have confirmed that the Frenchman will leave the club in the future, they were quick to suggest that Sakho's career at Anfield had been ruined by events earlier this year.

When asked for their take on the drugs test saga, his representatives told L'equipe (as quoted byinsidefutbol): "There is no doubt that this case changed the course of Sakho's career.

"A transfer seems inevitable, but the outcome is uncertain."

Sakho has been linked with moves to Premier League strugglers, West Ham and Leicester, but could well remain with Liverpool if a deal cannot be reached between the Reds and any potential buyer.
