Manchester City chief Txiki Begiristain has no doubts over the quality of new signing Ederson.
His will battle with Chilean international Claudio Bravo to be Pep Guardiola's No.1.
Begiristain said: “He is one of the best young goalkeepers in the Europe and he is an important addition to the squad for next season and the coming seasons.
“He is young, has all the qualities you could want as a top-class goalkeeper and I think he'll fit in really well to our squad."
Etihad bosses will now invite offers for out-of-favour England star Joe Hart, who is surplus to requirements.
