Man Utd depth giving Mourinho nice headache

Published on: 28 August 2017

Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho admits that he has a lot of defensive depth in his squad this season.

Mourinho has preferred to play Eric Bailly and Phil Jones in the opening three games with Chris Smalling finding himself on the bench.

£39.5m signing Victor Lindelof hasn't even made it to the bench in two of these fixtures, while Marcus Rojo is yet to return from a knee ligament injury.

"Smalling is in very good condition and Victor is improving every day," Mourinho said.

"Against Basle, Jones and Eric are both suspended so we will play Victor and Smalling and there will be no problem at all.

"The squad is good and the mentality of the players is very good."
