Former Manchester United striker Andy Cole has heaped praise on Liverpool's Daniel Sturridge after the 27-year-old scored in England's 2-0 win over Malta on Saturday.
Sturridge impressed up-front in England's win, prompting praise from a number of fans and ex pros.
Interim managerGareth Southgate's decision to start Sturridge was initially met with concerns, as he has only started in three Premier League games for Liverpool this season, but the fears were quickly alleviated asSturridgelooked calm and assured in England's No.9 jersey.
His goal and performance saw Andy Cole, a former England No.9, heap praise on the Birmingham-born striker, calling him 'the best we got.'

But his tweet was met by a number of angry Man Utd fans, who seemingly were ungrateful of their former strikers' praise of a Liverpool player.
The majority of replies called for youngster Marcus Rashford to be picked ahead of Sturridge, despite the fact that Rashford only has four caps at senior level.

Sturridge, who scored his 100th goal for club and country against Malta, thanked God and his team mates for helping him perform well, he wrote:"Glory goes to God. Thanks to my team mates for their help. Big game on Tuesday vs Slovenia. Have a blessed Sunday."
