Manchester United legend Gary Neville enjoyed a swipe at Liverpool fans after Emre Can earned 35% of the vote for goal of the year.

Neville is convinced Liverpool fans were behind the vote as he rated Henrikh Mkhitaryan's flick, as well as Olivier Giroud's scorpion kick ahead of the German's wonder effort.

Neville said: “It's a great goal but it's a little unsurprising.

"If you've ever watched X-Factor and those that type of programme it's always someone from Liverpool that does well because they vote for their own in droves.

“It isn't for me the best of the season but how can the public be wrong?"
