Management do not determine the players Kotoko sign – George Amoako reveals

Chief Executive Officer (CEO) for Kumasi Asante Kotoko, George Amoako has stressed that management of the club do not determine the kind of players they sign.

The management of the club has come under some backlash following the signing of as many as 10 players in the last couple of weeks. Whiles some have accused the management of lacking the ability to run the club, some have also shared that the management members have been imposing players on coaches.

In an interview with Kumasi based Sikka FM however, Mr. George Amoako has indicated that there is no truth in the accusations because no management member has a say at the club when it comes to the signings of players.

According to him, it is the coach of the team and his technical team who decides on the players they want to work with for management to try and negotiate in a bid to sign the player.

“A lot of thought goes into these signings, it’s not one person’s decision. It’s the work of the technical team, they pencil out the name of the players and we do the negotiations”.

“There is no player here brought by a management member and I’m very confident there will be a massive change looking at our signings and training”.

In the current transfer window, the Porcupine Warriors have completed the signings of Ampem Dacosta of Karela United, Justice Blay from Medeama, Godfred Asiamah from Ashanti Gold, Ugandan forward George Abege, former WA All Stars duo Kelvin Andoh and Richard Arthur and Ghana U23 goalkeeper Kwame Baah.

According to reports, they might even sign more to boost their squad for the 2019/2020 edition of the CAF Champions League.
